Questions, answered
- What is an MCP server?
- An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server is a small program that exposes tools, data or prompts to an AI agent such as Cursor, Claude Code or Claude Desktop through a standard protocol, so the agent can read files, query databases or drive a browser.
- What is Stack Registry?
- Stack Registry is a directory of MCP servers, agent skills and starter stacks. Each listing shows install configs copied verbatim from the official README, its GitHub stars, last commit and a visible verification date.
- How do I install an MCP server in Cursor or Claude Desktop?
- Open the listing, copy the mcpServers JSON snippet into your client's MCP config file (for example .cursor/mcp.json or claude_desktop_config.json), replace placeholder paths and keys, and restart the client.
- Are paid placements labelled?
- Yes. Featured listings and sponsors are always stamped as Featured or Sponsored; the default homepage picks are labelled as editor's picks.
